Enhancing Student Safety: How RouteHub’s New Feature Transforms Bus-Behavior Management

We’ve upgraded our RouteHub communication portal to let drivers log behavioral incidents in real-time, empowering schools with instant, cloud-based reporting for safer and more responsive student transportation.

The School Bus Logistics (SBL) RouteHub portal has always been a reliable tool for streamlining communication between school transportation personnel — from managing routes to tracking student changes and adjusting bell times. Now, we’re excited to introduce a new feature that allows RouteHub to improve student safety by monitoring and addressing behavioral issues on buses.

What is Behavior-Incident Reporting?

Our new feature enables bus drivers to digitally log and report behavioral incidents directly on their routes. Schools gain instant access to real-time data, helping them take swift action and address any concerns before they escalate.

Incidents Drivers Can Report Include:

  •  Bullying

  •  Disturbing others

  •  Eating, drinking, or littering

  •  Fighting/horseplay

  •  Inappropriate cell phone use

  •  Insubordinate to driver

  •  Refusing to stay seated

  •  Smoking/vaping

  •  Spraying aerosols or perfume

  •  Sticking head, hands out of window

  •  Student habitually late

  •  Unsafe loading or unloading

  •  Vandalism

  •  Yelling or use of obscene language

How It Works

Drivers are equipped with a QR code that allows them to upload incident reports using their smartphones — even before returning to the bus yard. Reports are uploaded to RouteHub, our centralized route-management portal, where transportation personnel and administrators can instantly access the information. Administrators can also request video coverage of incidents through Routehub. The tool will then track when the school handles, resolves, and closes out the incident form with the proper behavior plan in place.

The Impact on School Transportation

“The addition of this feature is a much-needed enhancement that will streamline communication between drivers, administrators, and schools, enabling quicker response times and more effective resolutions,” says Greg Jackson, Director of Business Development at School Bus Logistics. “Real-time reporting allows transportation teams to address incidents before they escalate, ensuring the safety and well-being of students. In my experience, this kind of innovation is exactly what districts need to improve accountability, efficiency, and overall service.”

We believe this update will have a meaningful impact on both operations and student safety across districts. With this enhancement, RouteHub will hold all personnel accountable for uploading, responding to, and resolving route and student changes on a daily basis.
